
Goals of the Foundation – To pursue our mission to strengthen our public libraries, the Foundation for San Luis Obispo County Public Libraries has adopted the following goals:
- A vigorous program of advocacy with government and other public agencies, community groups, the business community, and the general public on behalf of libraries, reading and literacy
- A sustained fundraising effort to supplement public tax funding of our countywide system of public libraries
- Ongoing support for library programs, with supplemental funding and volunteer assistance for those programs approved by the Board of Directors of the Foundation
- A dynamic program of Foundation-sponsored activities which benefit libraries, reading, and our communities
- Active collaboration with other community groups including local Friends of the Library, service groups, businesses, other public and private agencies and organizations – working together to strengthen support for our libraries

Foundation Board Committees

Executive Committee – Bob Alberti, Chair
Assists the President with general administration of the Board's activities, meeting agendas and emergency decisions. Other responsibilities as provided in the Foundation’s By-Laws (e.g., Bylaw amendments, Board membership, committee appointments). Also, as directed by the Board, the Executive Committee will conduct those activities suggested for the Finance Committee, Board Development Committee, and Long-Range Planning Committee.
Advisory Committees

Friends Liaison Committee
Supports active outreach and collaboration with, local Friends of the Library throughout the County, including attendance at Friends meetings, participation in Friends activities, and education of Friends about role of the Foundation. -
Fundraising and Grants Committee
Seeks sources of library funding, proposes fund-raising events, prepares grant proposals, develops and maintains relationships with donor prospects in the community and beyond. -
Public Relations and Marketing Committee
Prepares appropriate materials and programs to present the activities of the Foundation to its various constituents and stakeholders, including the Foundation web site, newsletter, descriptive flyers, periodic press releases, publicity campaigns, advertising, and similar efforts.
